Limericks of Street Art
With sights, there is a part
Which argues that it is quite smart.
It expresses issues
It reaches for tissues
It is, of course, Street Art.
The artists show their passion
By creating the city’s fashion.
They spray and paint;
or is it “taint”?
Because some think that they lack compassion.
The government wants it clean
Because they think its obscene.
They clean the grime
It takes some time
They don’t want to be seen as mean.
So the graffiti gets taken down
And the artists give some frowns.
It’s like, c’mon
It goes on and on;
This endless routine of clowns.
Street art, in its physical form, can be great.
But behind it all, it’s one long debate.
Between artists and authority that cannot agree
An endless and repetitive struggle for eternity.

Street art really lightens up the walls at time. People look them and be proud of the unique talent the country offers. It’s a hidden talent in itself. Also, loved it!
Well put, Nikharika! Couldn’t agree with you more.
Although many of you may oppose graffiti being illegal for the reason that it’s art, it’s good that it’s illegal for that very reason. someone online said something to the effect of graffiti being illegal being great because instead of people spraying random scribbles, more of the true artists venture out risking getting arrested to put real art that inspires and amazes us. 🙂
I personally have seen some of the best artwork in the form of graffiti. You have to be talented in my opinion to do it.
This is so cool!
Brilliant work.
Love it! Nice rhyme scheme too.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Good job.
There once was art in the street,
You could see it beneath your feet.
Was it a crime?
And Is it grime?
Only to the cops on the beat.
Mindless tagging is not street art, but graphical displays are…
You’re combining two of my favorite things here, poetry and the outdoor work of urban artists, very cool.
This is fantastic! Have you published yet? Great work 🙂
Cheers,

I’m absolutely in love with that piece of streetart 🙂 Thank you for sharing this!
lovely!!
Graffiti is very common yet taboo form of street art that I have encountered in many urban areas that I have resided in. Parts of Los Angeles were street art friendly, so many visible areas were painted with colors and art. I liked your poem. Keep up the good work. VERY WELL WRITTEN!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I love it! The art live in our the soul. But the art need that everyone see it. For that reason using a canvas, wood, paper, wall, etc., you can show your love and passion for the art. The medium and the support materials are unlimited. The street art is a way to remind the people that the is in our world forever.
Oh I love this street art! It has been the wallpaper on my computer, mobile and stuck up at home in my room ever since I was in Melbourne late last year. It is gorgeous! And of course I love the limerick.
Very good point, it is definitely an endless debate. Like it.
Fantastic! Great writing and great thought given to it. I’m following you…
was this picture taken in Melbourne?
Hello, great pic and great text!
Is the street art coming from your country? Did you shoot the pic?
Greetings from Belgium.

Love your poem! Some graffiti is terrific, some is awful — I hate seeing something of true beauty desecrated because somebody felt like defacing it, yet I love the creativity and brilliance of great graffiti. This piece with the little girl spilling the colors is wonderful.
Congrats on being FP!

Street Art can enhance an environment. I love discovering new art in unexpected places.
Nice!!!
cool cuz it’s all about individuality and freedom. artists should be allowed to do and say what they want. rebellion is key and writing poems ant painting pictures is not obscene. this rocks!
